Hurley Antics: 101 - Reaching the Target Audience

There are several techniques that will be demonstrated in order to reach the film’s target audience. One of the most crucial factors in determining if a person will attend particular movie is based upon the actors in the film.  By blending some of the hottest up-and-coming actors in the business with seasoned, talented celebrities will assist in making Hurley Antics: 101 a must-see film. (Please see attached sheet: “If Money Were No Issue”) Using this blend will give the film the envisioned fall out of your chair laughter and drop dead sexy flavor that we anticipate.

The character dialogue, which the writers chose throughout the script, was carefully selected.  This will allow the audience to be extremely familiar with the characters’ thoughts, feelings, emotions, and opinions.  This system will be implemented through the use of common, everyday terminology combined with fashionable, up-to-date slang that is spoken by today’s teenagers and young adults.  The use of “real” dialogue will allow the audience to connect the characters to their own peers and experiences.

Of all of the complex marketing tools used in today’s advertising world, a simple form frequently stands out when trying to reach this audience: “Sex Sells.” The film is packaged with scenes that depict the common sexual exploration experienced by young people.  Attractive young men and women will be clustered throughout the entire course of the film, which will also aid in packing the theaters. Of course, comedy is sprinkled throughout the majority of these scenes.  

 Next, with the use of hip and in style fashion worn by all of the characters in Hurley Antics: 101, the audience will recognize and appreciate the certain styles that are chosen for the film. The Jackpot Pictures team will hire a Product Placement Company whose sole purpose is to reveal particular product in a given scene. The Product Placement Company will be used for all set dressing, props, food and beverage, accessories, shoes, as well as costumes.  In turn, the use of a Product Placement Company is a low cost form of advertising since all that is used the physical product creating a subliminal message.  Therefore, they will be more than happy to supply their products to film. Due to the fact that there are so many fine genres of music enjoyed by so many different people, the soundtrack for Hurley Antics: 101 will pride itself in dabbling in as many of these genres as possible.

One very popular type of music enjoyed by young people is classic rock. The film will include songs from bands, such as: The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and The Alman Brothers Band. Young adults tend to be enthralled by the alternative/pop rock explosion during the early to mid-nineties. Samples from bands like: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Oasis, and Green Day will be rampant as well. An extremely popular form of music today is hip hop. Teenagers and young adults tend to heavily enjoy being at a club and dancing to the hip hop artists of both today and the past. Artists such as: The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas, and Outkast will be widespread throughout the film, and most commonly heard in the clubs and party scenes.

The most important technique that Jackpot Pictures intends to employ is the use of displaying common interests, social settings, and emotional experiences in which the target audience deals with on a day-to-day basis. All of these scenes and character relations will obviously be intertwined with humor. Another very common interest among college-aged people is sports. The Rugley University football team, and more importantly star quarterback, Keith Rubens, are crucial to the plot of Hurley Antics: 101. The pre-game tailgating and the football game will capture the ideal school spirit of college athletics. Product placement for companies such as Nike, Reebok, and Adidas will be used for the sporting events. 

The film is loaded with party scenes and club scenes. Each scene is filled with excitement, comradery, and sensual interaction. These scenes will certainly hit close to home with the viewers because they are the types of social settings in which the audience may continually find themselves. Alcohol product placement will be used in these scenes. Characters will be drinking beer (Heineken, Budweiser, Coors, etc.) and hard liquor (Absolut, Captain Morgan’s, Jose Cuervo), all household names for young people.  The emotional experiences in this film can be related to by virtually all that view it. College is a coming of age period of time. The characters in Hurley Antics: 101 embark on a journey in which they discover their right of passage. Relationship problems, being picked on, being embarrassed, being cheated on, and being hurt are all common forks in the road as we travel on this journey. These are also extremely common to the characters in Hurley Antics: 101. They go through the same heartbreaks that we all go through; only this story is will leave the audience with smiles on their faces.
